Can't delete locked app file
OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 (14F27) on MacBook Pro
Got a hard one. The app in question is CrashPlan (awesome app btw). I'd installed to my new macbook pro and was working great. My company decided to offer PROe service and installing over top my existing personal account made a mess of things. I uninstalled per directions; however, the CrashPlan.app file still resides in my Applications folder AND it is now a zero size file, owned by System, and Locked.
I've tried these things to resolve so far to no avail:
sudo chflags nouchg on the offending file doesn't work (file remains locked)
Next I enabled the root account, relogged, and the finder info tab shows the locked checkbox editable. Shows root has rw permissions. Unchecking then closing does NOT remove locked flag. If I open info back up.. it's still checked as locked (still editable mind you).
Moving to trash as root, asks to move even though locked, I tell it OK anyway but then get an error message saying: That object or file “” could not be moved.
Interesting fact the object or file is empty within the quotes in the message. I would have expected to see the file name.
From terminal, as root, RM CrashPlan.app fails
From terminal, as root, chflags nouchg CrashPlan.app fails
Running disk utility, check filesystem says AOK
Running disk utility, repair permissions says AOK (CrashPlan.app not listed as a problem or needing fix).
So, what next?
