there is no options section

I see you are having trouble finding the Options section when trying to add music to your device. It seems you might be misunderstanding what the instructions are saying. It is a section of the main window after selecting the device and clicking Summary, not a dropdown menu.

First, you need to select your device:

Then from the left sidebar, click on "Summary".

Now in the main window of iTunes you should see the "Device" section with information on your device. The capacity, phone number and serial number.

Under that is "Backups" and below that is "Options". If you still are not seeing Options, either scroll down in that window or expand the iTunes window.
