I am working on a movie to remember my late grandmother. Besides images, I want to incorporate music along with audio clips and possible video. I want to overlap the audio clips and video while the music continues to play in the back ground. I can't seem to figure out how to overlap. When I bring in the music, the audio files disappear.

You shouldn't drag your audio to the bottem, but attach it to a clip. The bottem track is a background track. If you attach audio to a clip it will look like LukeMac showed. You can then have multiple tracks.

When I try to overlap, I notice that it erasers/hides the other files. They are not visibly overlapping like your photo...My photo shows them all side by side but when I drag the music on top of the smaller audio files it's just goes on top of it...
@sclochie Do you have the latest imovie software?
Anyone else have input? I have a feeling it's a simple fix, just can't figure it out...
trying putting the music onto the music track and then you should be able to overlap audio by just dragging one under the other.

I have Version 10.0.5. I know this isn't the latest but I've thought I had overlapped with audio files in the past in this version and I just can't seem to figure it out.
Is it just no possible in my version? I thought it was, but maybe I'm wrong...
iMovie, having trouble overlapping audio (ie. music and audio clips). Would like help on this. Thank you!
