Computer lost several folders when syncing to iPhone

I synced my iPad with my music files. Then, I tried to sync the same files to my iPhone. I needed to delete several apps first. When I performed the sync and went back to my computer, I found several of my music playlists had disappeared. Looking for a way to find these missing playlists.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

Are they still on the iPad? I think that this should still be relevant.

Thanks for your assistance. I do have some of the files on my ipad but not all. I guess I have to download the iExplore software to copy them back to my computer. Anyway, your fast response was much appreciated!
