need to unlock my ipod shuffle

I locked my ipod a long time ago.. I don't remember the password to it and when I try to hook it up to a computer it wont sync and I just want to get it to play because it will play thru by itself. I need to know how to either push play or unlock it without reseting it and getting it to sync to computer.
