photo album uses a lot of gigabytes

hi, when I manage my storage in setting I see that my photo album uses 8.4 gigabytes! I tried deleting all of my photos to see if it would make a difference but it didn't. I've also deleted all the photos off recently deleted. The only other apps I have is Facebook and YouTube and of course the other pre installed applications That only take up a certain amount of megabytes. I have zero photos or videos in my photo library so why does it still say 8.4 gigabytes used? And how can I fix this?

Hi there EJP0516,

It sounds like you have deleted your Photos data but the space is still not available. I would recommend quitting both the Photos and the Settings apps on your device:

Force an app to close in iOS

1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that, force the iPhone to restart and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
