My friend's Mac Air from 2014 is displaying grey vertical stripes on her screen. They don't go away and one of them moves with the mouse. We tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't get us anywhere. What is wrong with her computer/how can we fix it?

That problem may be related to the GPU or the display, but it looks like a GPU problem (because those stripes move with the mouse). Unfortunately, there's nothing more to do apart from making a backup and taking the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get it repaired.
