Changing my account picture to a picture from Photos

Hello,

I just got a new Macbook Pro with Retina about a month ago and I've been trying to change my account picture to a picture from Photos. However, when I go to edit the photo and click the option for "iCloud Photos," it loads for a second and then says, "Take a photo with your iOS device or manually add photos from the Photos app." All of my photos have been downloaded from iCloud, so I can't understand why this is happening. Does anybody know what I can do? Please and thank you.

Export a copy of the picture to your Desktop and then drag/drop it into your account picture.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up logging into iCloud through Safari and setting my picture that way. It still bothers me that I can't do it through system preferences. It makes me worried there might be a problem with my device or something.

Open your System Preferences Users & Groups panel, and then single-click the existing image. This brings up a panel from which you select the My Photo Stream menu item. Scroll through the images in the Photo Stream collection. You update your existing image by simply double-clicking on the new image.
