how to delete emails from phone but not computer...

Hi All,

I'd like to be able to look at emails on my phone but have them just be a copy and if I delete them they still show up on my desktop machine. I check my emails on my phone and respond in if urgent but generally wait until I am at my desktop to deal with them. So I'd like to be able to declutter my phone email inbox by deleting and then still being able to look at and double check when I get home.

I can do that with accounts set up with POP3 but I'd like to get away from that system and I've also got a new work email which is an 'exchange account'. I'm being encouraged to use Outlook 2016 and I'm worried about having hundreds of emails show up on my phone that I want to delete but can't until I've looked at them properly on my Mac at home...

Any advice?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

IMAP and with exchange was made and pretty apart from push it's the only real difference between pop3

so if you wish to not use the feature pop3 is the way to go really
