Enable Trim With Samsung 850 EVO?

I am planning to upgrade the HD in my wife's late 2011 MacBook Pro 15in. running Yosemite 10.10.5 to a Samsung 850 EVO SSD and I am confused about whether trim should be enabled or not. I believe trim support for 3rd party SSD's is available starting with 10.10.4 via command line but there are warnings about data loss. Can anyone shed any light on this?

The warning means that Apple have not tested 3rd party drives, Apple supplied drives are safe to use with Trim, 3rd party drives may be safe. Check with Samsung.
