Mail application launches as blank screen then shuts down. Started doing this when our email provider went out of business and shut down the account. Any ideas???

Mail application launches as blank screen then shuts down. This started when our email provider went out of business and shut down our email account. The icon shows I have 18 messages but can't access anything. Any suggestions???
