In landscape mode in Safari bookmarks take up half the display. This just started happening

HHow do I get the bookmarks to stay hidden so I can read the page?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4.1

Ok, I played around and fixed it. Just touch the Bookmark symbol

at the top of the page and the bookmarks toolbar goes away.
