Messages App seems to have been taken over by google

Have macbook pro Yosemite 10.10.5

when testing it out i sent a text to my cell it was delivered to my laptop and not to my i phone.

also requires me to sign in to google account which i do have but it still doesn't send the text to the phone.

can someone shine some lite on this?
