Adding a LaserWriter Pro to Chooser

I'm trying to resurrect both a Quadra 800, which now seems to be operating properly, and a LaserWriter Pro. (630? No further nomenclature on the label, but it is a PhotoGrade model, and the date of manufacture is January 1993.) Problem is that the printer does not appear in the Chooser window, though several other printers do, including the LW 300 (which I don't have and never did). When I try to print, the dialog box specifies the LW 300, which I had selected as the default printer after reinstalling OS 8 because it was the only LW offered. Find File locates a "printer description" for the LW 630, but I don't know how to get Chooser to offer this printer to me. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Howard

Hi Howard,

The web pages http://lowendmac.com/laserwriter/pro600.html and http://lowendmac.com/laserwriter/pro630.html provide some basic facts about two LaserWriter Pro printers.

Was an appropriate version of LaserWriter 8 not installed by the system software installer? If not, you may want to look for it under the custom install options.

Also, how is the printer connected to your Quadra 800?
