Q: Can I run Airplay Mirroring on my Mid-2010 Macbook Pro Using the "NEW" Apple TV due out this September 9th???
I own and use my Mid-2010 17" Apple MacBook Pro running OSX Yosemite version 10.10.5.
So, having mentioned these specs, will my laptop be capable of performing Airplay Mirroring with this all-new Apple TV version due out on September, 9th, 2015???
It's been all over the Web for years: ONLY Early 2011 and Newer versions of Apple MacBook Pros are operable with [only Second Generation] AppleTVs.
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Intel i7 4GB RAM

About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
No, you cannot. AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Other solutions are the Air Parrot, StreamToMe, and AirServer.
