2 MacBook Pro's

we have 2 macbook pro's in the same room.

the 2012 macbook pro can turn on the Apple TV device

the 2014 macbook pro cannot and the user must use an Apple remote to turn on the device, once the Apple TV device is on the connection starts working

if the 2014 mac is controlling the Apple TV and the 2012 mac activates a connection to Apple TV the 2014 mac loses control

the 2014 mac cannot get control of Apple TV if the 2012 mac has control of Apple TV

Both Mac's are up to date on OS X

Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Thanks

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I'm not quite following what you mean by turning on Apple TV's with the computer. What version Apple TV? What app are you using to "turn on Apple TV" and what versions of iTunes is on each MBPro? Note: Only one device can connect to Apple TV at a time. You cannot connect both MBPros at the same time though both can show as available in Computers or AirPlay.
