16-bit big endian mono audio not playing in Quicktime Player

I have a bunch of quicktime movies generated from Maya (playblasts) that contain Photo JPEG video and 16-bit integer (big endian) mono audio. The audio will not play back in Quicktime, though the video works find. The audio WILL playback in Quicktime Player 7, as well as Keynote 09. The problem seems to be with the latest Quicktime, and also the latest Keynote. I'd rather not have to manually convert all these movies to a new audio format, or be forced to use the old software. Any tricks for making this audio work in current Mac apps?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 16 GB RAM
