ibooks author edit hyperlink text colors

I'm trying to edit my hyperlinks to bookmarks in my ibook. They are currently red but i want them black. I have applied a paragraph style to black and the character style to black but for some reason the character style won't change when i select black. It just stays the red color even though it says the text should be black.
