have you gone into the settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars and changed the password listed there for the email service?

Thank you! I saw the password in that section but thought it may be my Apple ID password so didn't do anything with it. I have changed it now to the newly created one and everything seems to be working fine - thanks for the help.
