Hello, I have a permanent issue with syncing photos from my iPhone 6 to the iMac (10.10.5) - pictures, I take on the iPhone take days or weeks to get to the iMac - while it takes a couple of minutes, when I use Google Photos. Sometimes, pictures and videos just get lost and never appear at all on the Mac. Is there a way to make them work as smooth and easy as the Google done?

It can take quite a while for the initial sync to complete, however after that everything should happen quite quickly, it does for me. Have you finished your initial sync yet.
Are you referring to My Photo Stream for syncing from the iPhone to your Mac or the iCloud Photo Library. I find that once my iPhone is within a WiFi network that it can connect to the transfer is quick.
For the first the iPhone must be connected to WiFi before the transfer/sync will begin. For the latter syncing to the iCloud Photo Library and back to the Mac can take some time as WC has already pointed out.
Which are you using?
Try stopping syncing in Settings, then wait a couple of minutes, and reenable the sync.

I sync over iCloud. But even now - after update to the 10.11 - the sync actually, never happens. I see only placeholders for the images in Photos, but the images themselves are not there... Have no idea, how to fix it.
