iTouch 4G Screen Issue

Device: iPod Touch 4G, 32GB
Version: iOS 6.1.6

Problem: Some white-grayish, cloudy patches have appeared near the status bar(check Image) for about a month and half now.
iPod is kinda old though, bought in April'11.
Anybody facing this issue? What might have caused it? Any known fix?

My amateur diagnosis is that your screen is dying. The digitizer is wearing out.

I would honestly say that a 4th gen isn't worth fixing but ultimately that call is up to you.
