QuickTime Player Deleted My Video

I had a video on a GoPro and opened it in QuickTime Player. I tried to trim the video but it froze and I couldn't do anything or exit out of QuickTime Player, so I force quit. It deleted the video from the GoPro, I couldn't find it anywhere it didn't go to trash. I didn't have time machine backup on either.
