how to change iCloud setting after changing apple id mail address

Hi,

After having changed my apple id mail address, i successfully changed all my settings except the iCloud settings- i get an error message because the system is asking me for the apple id pw assigned to my "outdated" old apple id mail address- in the mail address field i cannot change.

Any help on this issue?
