Can I control Keynote 10 on Mac with iPad bluetooth (no wi-fi)?

I have a Mac that is running a Keynote 10 presentation and need to jump around slides without my audience seeing it. I want to use presenter view, but cannot use a second monitor on the Mac. I have tried with my 6th Gen iPod Touch and it works with wi-fi (though the signal strength is unpredictable at best), but I can't get it to work with wi-fi on my iPad, even though both devices are connected to the same wi-fi network. I think the iPad is 2nd or 3rd gen, updated as much as it can using the latest version of Keynote. Is it possible to control the Keynote prez with Bluetooth or even another Mac, like a Macbook?

iPad, iOS 8.4
