How Can i pair my mac to the AppleTV in order to stream shows on my tv?

I have an apple TV that i can connect to ITunes on my Mac, But I am not able to connect via bluetooth to the AppleTV? Can some one explain to me how this is done. I want to be able to see my shows on the Apple TV streaming them from my Mac.

Apple TV requires WiFi. The only Bluetooth functionality is for pairing a keyboard. Home Sharing can help as can AirPlay but AirPlay has DRM limitation and doesn't work on older Mac (which shouldn't be an issue for you with a Retina Display model). Some find the Mac app Beamer to be more useful than AirPlay. It is not an Apple approved program but it works fine for me.
