IOS 8.4.1 and wi-fi range

Since the IOS 8.4.1 update our devices (2 iphones, ipad) no longer have the wi-fi range they did before the update. They now must be much closer to our router to connect. I recall there was a similar problem with a much earlier IOS version, where it was limiting the wi-fi radio's power in an attempt to save power, but over-doing it. Is it possible that's back?

Note our non-IOS devices are NOT experiencing the same problem.

Any ideas? Thanks,
