I plan to buy an iPhone 6Plus and want to turn my iPhone5 in for credit. Do I have to turn the old one in before I can get credit for new purchase?

So I guess I would have to turn the old one in to get the gift card before using it towards new phone. Darn.
It is a third party that pays you with the Apple gift card. Apple does not do trade ins.

Thanks to both of you. I knew about the recycle and gift card plan - was just hoping there might be a way I could get the gift card with a delayed time to turn in old phone. I don't want to turn the old one in until I have the new one set up and working. Oh well. Guess I'll go the eBay route.

Make sure to do a backup on the 5 before recycling so you can restore from a backup on the 6Plus. That saves time and effort when you get the 6Plus.
