Late 2011 Macbook Pro 13"(2.4 GHzCore i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB] [ in which start up does not proceed further than white screen with Apple logo. Unable to get to Safe or even Recovery Mode although brief glimpse of black screen data when trying to get to Safe Mode. Purchased as reconditioned in August 2014 for teen about to go off to college. Son does not have "filter" as to what sites he goes into or what he downloads. Problem began app. two months ago and no progress since. Looking for possible solution short of bringing to Apple Store out of warranty.
