why can't I find ibooks for mac 1.2 to download for osx 10.9 macair

I have ibooks author app

Cannot use preview as it states I need most recent ibooks for mac which is vs 1.2. My macair is osx vs 10.9 maverick which ibooks author states that is compatible with the recent version of ibooks 1.2.

Is this because I do not have Yosemite? Am so reluctant to covert to that version as I could lose some of my older software programs not compatible with Yosemite.

Not understanding your answer - I simply cannot find the site to download the update to ibooks 1.2 in order to update my macair osx10.9 maverick.

Without that update to ibooks, I cannot use ibook author PREVIEW function

Do you know where it is - it seems to be hooked up somehow with itunes....

How typical of Apple to mislead users.

Nowhere did I see that iBooks author with iBooks update would not work on Maverick. So, after frustrating hours of work.... %$#&!
