I want to connect my iPad2 or my iPhone6 to my TV, using a HDMI cord. Is this possible, and what other adapters would I need to purchase? I already have an HDMI cord w/ audio. Both devices have the same charging port, so I assume that whatever cord/adapters I purchase would be compatible for both.

You need a 30 pin Digital AV Adapter.
The above will work with an iPad 2 but I just reread your post and noticed you say both have the same charging port. iPhone 6 has a Lightning adapter which is different from an iPad 2 so you must be wrong about iPad model if they have the same charging port. In any case, for iPhone 6 you need this AV Adapter.
My charging cord for my iPad2 will also charge my iPhone6... so I just assumed they had the same port... could be wrong though.
Well, you have links to both now. Look closely at the pictures and buy the one that most closely looks like the iOS Device charging cable end that plug into the iOS Devices.
