I tried to upload new music onto my ipod but i can't because it won't get past the backing up part. I tried skipping that step by closing it on my activity monitor but when i did that only some of the music went on my ipod and some just won't play even though it has in on my library.

If your iPod touch is unable to be backed up in iTunes, then I suggest that you go through the steps outlined in the link below.
