No. The late 2006 iMac models were sold through summer 2007.

oh okay .. so it must be mid 2007 because it is aluminum body already.. okay thanks for that info
You can check what model you have by Apple Menu > About this Mac. It will tell you if it is what you think.
it is currently running 10.6.8, amd it doesn't show if what year it is.. and i don't have it right now.
When you get it back in front of you go to Apple logo (top left > about this Mac > More info > and in the hardware overview screen tell us what it says in the FIRST EIGHT LINES ONLY. (excuse the capitals).
You don't need to post back here to find out. Append the model identifier or the last three characters of its serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= and load the page.

Once you get the model number, this is the requirement.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
