Third party apps cannot currently access the heart rate sensor on Apple Watch (and this is not an advertised feature of the app).
This will change this autumn / fall with the launch of a major software update for Apple Watch (watchOS 2). This will allow third party apps to access watch hardware features including the heart rate sensor, Taptic Engine and accelerometer.
It is possible that Pocket Yoga will take advantage of these new opportunities in due course (you might want to ask the developer).
More info here: http://www.apple.com/watchos-2-preview/
Contact the developer of the app here: Rainfrog, LLC Web Site
In the meantime, you could run a Workout on Apple Watch, choosing "Other" as the activity type. This will measure your heart rate continuously during the workout. Remember to end the workout afterwards, either by swiping to the pause / end screen or force pressing the display from anywhere within the Workout app.

Aug 31, 2015 5:39 AM in response to Jonathan UKby nicolafromcowes,Thank you for your reply. That is really enoying that they don't state the app won't connect to heart rate sensor, that was the reason I bought it in the first place. I presumed as it was for the apple watch it would connect. I will have to continue using the workout app on the watch instead but as there is no yoga workout it presumes I'm only walking. I'll have to look out for the updated version. Thank you again.
