iPod touch (5th? gen) version 8.4.1 suddenly not showing up in iTunes (11.4) on Mac Pro (10.6.8) as of yesterday 08/30/2015.

iPod touch (5th? gen) version 8.4.1 suddenly not showing up in iTunes (11.4) on Mac Pro (10.6.8) as of yesterday 08/30/2015. I've verified USB port is functioning; don't have another iPod cable, don't know how to "reset" this iPod. Also, battery indicator does not seem to be functioning, I'm worried its not charging.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2 x 2.8 quad core Intel Xeon

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G or later iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- If a 5G ot later iPod

- Try another charging source. This will help determine if iPod or cable probolem

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
