Error message when exporting

I am getting an error message that states "an internet connection must be available for downloading". My computer is connected to the internet and other programs are working without issues. Unfortunately, I cannot export any photos from my library without getting this message. I have an IMac (2010) and the latest operating system. I am trying to move my photos to an external hard drive. I would appreciate any help!

Can you explain how you're going about this exporting?

BTW if you're trying to move the images then you an moe then entire library you know:

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

1. Quit iPhoto

2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.

3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.

4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
