I Have received 3 separate emails telling me someone has used my account to purchase apps...usually Can or US dollars. As I haven't submitted my credit card details to Apple should I be worried?

You should change your password to your Apple ID and if you had any other sites with that password, change them as well.

Odds are those are phishing attempts and not genuine communication from Apple. (An Apple ID can only support one currency at a time).
If you still have the emails, forward them to reportphishing@apple.com.
TThanks will do.thought they were phishing but didn't know how to report it. Has happened 3 times.
