If you continue to get this "Verification Failed" error, you may want to try resetting your network settings as noted in the following article (the article is aimed at a slightly different issue, but the steps are useful more generally as well):

Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.
