You do not need a current (or any) AppleCare plan to post to Apple Support Communities. Not sure exactly what problem you are having but you did in fact post to Apple Support Communities -- which is what I am replying to.
Hey FoxFifth,
Very clever, but as logical as that sounds, I mean that I still have had some trouble posting to other forums than this one on the apple support communities. So, no, that doesn't fully answer my question.
Thanks
Erika
Sorry -- wasn't trying to be clever but it wasn't clear what problem you were having. You may want to post a new question (if it will let you) in the following section of the forum with as many details as you can provide (what error message or what happened when you tried to post, etc). Using Apple Support Communities
Oh it is okay, I don't mind clever. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Sort of frustrated by a couple of issues with my mac, but I think this one has somehow resolved itself, at least temporarily. I didn't think that applecare was required to post to support communities, personally, but that was my only logic as to why I was unable to post. The error message was specifically a pinkish-red bar that popped up at the top of my Safari window that reads, " You are unable to comment on or update this post." Which is strange since i am the one creating it. The post, that is.
Thank you for your input.
This forum has had its share (and then some) of transient weird issues. The red bar with the "You are unable ..." was one of them a while back -- I haven't seen it lately and don't remember the details but you may find some help in the section I referred to. It is definitely nothing to do with your AppleCare (or anything else under your control).
This site is constantly undergoing changes in an effort to keep up with its rapidly growing numbers of users worldwide, which exceeded 10 million about two years ago. What you experienced is probably just a glitch that is likely to resolve itself in matter of hours.
My post button is unable to be clicked, after I posted for the first time the "post" button freezes the website on 10.9.5.
let us know
BTW, it is always best to start a new question rather than tack onto an older thread
Thank you!
You're welcome.
I take it you are good to go now?
Its working now, I couldn't post from Chrome Private browsing.
Private browsing prevents cookies - ASC requires cookies = there is no reason to browse privately here
Having had an Apple account for many years, and posted many times, am now told I'm not allowed to post. This wretched problem keeps resurfacing; can't Apple do something about it?
Does this manifest every time you try to post or is it randomly intermittent?
IF intermittent there are 3 possibilities...
Thanks Chitlins. As you surmised, after three or four tries , my post was finally accepted. Very strange, though.
