Screen Sharing With No Mouse Control

I have done screen sharing for years to collaborate on projects, but last evening I did it and I did not have mouse control when viewing the other persons screen. When it was reversed and they could view my screen they also only had a magnifier and could do nothing on my screen. Is this the new normal or is there a workaround?

Good day mpalphoto,

If you are using Screen Sharing and able to observe the other computer's onscreen actions but not control anything on that computer such as the cursor with your mouse, you may be in Observe Mode. To change this go to the View menu and selcect Control Mode. See this article for various options for Screen Sharing - OS X Yosemite: Set view options while sharing another computer’s screen

Hi,

It seems you are doing Screen Sharing in the iMessages Account an invoking the Screen Sharing App (AIM and Jabber accounts work differently)

Go to System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing and check what access you are allowing.
