It sounds as though iTunes on your Mac is having difficulty connecting to the iTunes Store online. There are several possible causes for this. I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article - If you can’t connect to the iTunes Store.

From version 12.2.2 I get the error message 'We could not complete your iTunes store request an unknown error has occurred then it says (-50) then (-42408) or visa versa. This means I cannot log in, check for available downloads or listen to music
