I cannot burn playlist to CD's.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop and cannot burn playlist to CD's. It has Windows 7 and has the latest version of iTunes. I get a message "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to." I called support and was told it was iTunes and was given a work around. I have never heard or experienced this before.

Susanne, I just attempted to download the latest version of itunes again. It gave me the option of removing itunes or installing again to repair anything that may have gone wrong the first time. I chose to reinstall and repair. After doing this, I was able to burn a cd from a playlist! Hope you see this and that it works for you as well.

I just upgraded to WIndows 10 Pro. I am currently unable to burn DVDs from playlist. I have tried about everything available. I have deleted/reinstalled the GEAR software which iTunes uses to burn to a DVD player. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTUnes 12 multiple times to no avail. I would hate to give up on iTunes but I may have to come up w/ an alternative solution. I am able to burn DVD's using Roxio.

Thanks to all for your responses. First let me say this is the first time I have done this, gone on support sight. So I am not sure if I am doing this right. I have the latest version of iTunes. When I went to "help" to check for updates it did not give me the option of removing iTunes or installing again. Is there somewhere else to go? I have tried all the common problems- too many songs, changing speed, the music is from a CD that I bought and loaded into iTunes, etc. I am stumped? If I delete iTunes from my computer and reinstall the whole thing, will I loose all my songs?

I am not sure what was the problem but as I stated in my previous reply the Apple Support suggested I try using a CD-RW. I did and it worked. If you have tried this and it doesn't work maybe you should try the Apple Support. They could not find anything wrong or the reason why it did not work for me but the CD-RW worked for me. I requested Windows 7 when I bought my computer. That is one difference between our computers. I am hesitant to get 10.

Regarding Windows/10 and iTunes 12.2.2. I finally gave up on iTunes. I have uninstalled, completely uninstalled, absolutely totally uninstalled all parts of iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Mobile Support and all of the other party favors plus downloaded the complete GEAR Software Suite (The DVD/CD burn software that iTunes uses) to no avail. Windows 10 and iTunes simply do not seem to want to function together at the level to which am accustomed. I am not willing to convert to CD-RW which is a stupid solution to this problem. After significant research I have downloaded and installed MediaMonkey. This is a sophisticated media management application. The install was easy and the importing of iTunes Music was simple. Actually the audio files remained in the iTunes Music folder. I must admit that importing all of my playlist was a bit tricky. As you would expect, Apple does not want to easily share their internal data. But I am persistent and found a way. It took me about 3 hours to learn my way around MediaMonkey-Gold. Yes I purchased MediaMonkey. There is a freeware version that was the equivalent of iTunes but after researching I can see that iTunes was actually a pretty weak product. I was easily able to Sync my iPhone-6+ to MediaMonkey. Stunningly, it was actually easier than iTunes. I have used iTunes for years and years and I thought I would regret leaving my old friend behind. But no, Just after installing MM-Gold and finally converting all of my playlists, I was able to immediately burn an audio CD-R and actually was provided a bit more detailed functionality that iTunes provided. MM is not my solution and I have no regrets. Should you choose to convert to MM I would be happy to share w/ you my technique for importing playlists.

I am new to this support forum, so excuse me if I am a bit out of the norm... Zoomlens-tfv...PLEASE give me more info on Media Monkey ! How you imported your music/playlists, etc... I am a fitness/Zumba instructor... my music is very important. After a failed Windows 10 update, I had to have a new hard drive installed in my 6 month old Dell XPS 8700. I was able to backup my iTunes library and export/import my playlists (one at at time)...but I am so over this lengthy process if the Media Monkey is a better option. I use an iPod touch for my music..Please advise me.

I cannot burn playlist to CD's.
