HP Color 2600n Laser Printer is not recognized by AirPort Express

HP Color 2600n Laser Printer is no longer recognized by AirPort Express. In order to print, I must connect my HP Color 2600n Laser Printer directly with a USB cable to my MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5. All firmware is up to date for AirPort Express and for HP Color 2600n Laser Printer. Worked with an Apple technical support person and checked out all systems. She suggested I take the Express to the Apple store for testing. Took AirPort Express to Apple store and it checked out as working properly. Am I missing something??

Delete all the existing references to the HP printer in the computer and reinstall it..

As a network printer it is now entirely different setup to USB.

Also make sure you can ping the printer from the computer..

So find the printer IP address.. from the LCD or test page..

Then open a terminal in the computer and ping the address.. if that fails you cannot print to it.. and will need to fix the printer to be on the correct IP..

Give us a stack more info on the whole network setup if that happens.

When I printed a self test/configuration report from the HP printer I received the following:

Link Settings No link

IP Configured by: Manual

IP Address: 0.0.0.0

IP Subnet Mask 0.0.0.0

IP Default Gateway 0.0.0.0

WINS configured by: DHCP

DHCP Server 0.0.0.0

DHCP Lease Time 0.0.0.0

Preferred WINS server 0.0.0.1

mDNS Name: HP color LaserJet 2600n

I then entered an IP address (associated with AirPort Extreme) on the HP 2600n manually. New self/test configuration report:

Link Settings 100TX Full

IP Configured by: Manual

IP Address: 192.168. 200. 25

IP Subnet Mask 255. 255. 255. 0

IP Default Gateway 10. 0. 1. 1

WINS configured by: DHCP

DHCP Server 0. 0. 0. 0

DHCP Lease Time 0

Preferred WINS server 0. 0. 0. 0

mDNS Name: HP color LaserJet 2600n

Printer is still not connected.

If you have a ping response from the printer then it should be possible to print to it.

However I would much prefer to see the printer is picking up an IP automatically.

It is a very unusual IP..

Having the IP in a different gateway can work but is unusual.

What IP is the Express?

How is the express connected to the rest of the network?

Does the HP 2600N have drivers for 10.10.5 (or at least Yosemite??)

Manually setting up printers is not something I have done with Macs.. it was a nice thing with windows that you can do it.

I might need to look up details of this.. I presume the printer is postscript so printing to it should be possible even without the latest drivers if it comes to last resort.

I do however need to know the full network layout.. and I need to see how the domains are working.

The best idea here is to do a netstat check from the computer via the airport utility. Post the results for me..

I want you to be wirelessly connected to the express when you do it. (you do this from network utility which is hidden in Yosemite.. just search for it in finder).
