I have a few apps that I never use and I would just like to get rid of them but they do not despond to the hold and x as other apps do.
The weather app is broken and is a waste of space
Any ideas?

You can't delete them. Are part of the iOS.
What part of the weather app is not working?
You cannot get rid of the App but you can move it out of the way into a folder, like Utilities or a new one named as you wish (Junk ?).
To try to repair it, try a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it comes up. You will not lose anything. This could well restore the Weather App.
If not I would do a complete Restore. Here is how:

As has always been the case, you cannot delete any of the built in apps.

Date is wrong but location is right I'm in Australia but it is yesterdays date. It has been wrong for about a month. I have updated phone, reset, and restarted, it is still wrong, no information on any forums that give a useful answer so i wanted to remove it and get another weather app.
Just move it to another page and get a weather app that you like better.
Just place it on the Utilities folder on a second/back page and download The Weather Channel App or any of your choice.
