iTunes stopping mid song

I'm operating OS X 10.10.5 and iTunes 12.2.2, since updating to OS X 10.10.5 (possibly a coincidence) iTunes has started to stop mid song for a couple of seconds then continue on, happens at least 10 times per song, any suggestions??

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
