When opening excel file on iPhone5 it is a blank?

My company has been sending schedules to our technicians by email in excel format for the last two years. As of today when the open the file it is blank. Only happening on the phones not on mac or desktop as confirmed this.

iPhone 5, iOS 8.4

We ran into this at our work as well and narrowed the problem down to the files being in the old Office format; i.e., .XLS instead of .XLSX. Try saving or renaming your files in .XLSX file extension and that should resolve your problems.
