As this article states, you will have to erase the device and set it up as new to remove the passcode.

This is the same passcode you use each day to switch iphone on.
If you cannot remember restore iPhone on your PC in itunes .

The restrictions passcode is not the same as the iPhone passcode.

The title as well as the body of the original post refer to the restrictions passcode.
