i want to downlaod audacity for macbook but i do not want a virus, unless VoiceOver Utility does the same then there would be no need for it.

Open Security & Privacy preferences. Click on the lock icon and enter your admin password. Click on the General tab. At the bottom you will see:
Enable the last radio button like above. Now you can download it.

Or control-click the application and choose 'Open'. You will be asked if you want to open it - agree, and in future it will open normally. This will leave the protection in place.
is voiceOver Utility the app on my macbook pro the same as audacity?
