Q: Can I use a debit card for Family Sharing?
The article Change or remove your Apple ID payment information in the iTunes Store - Apple Support states that a credit or debit card can be used as your payment method for Family Sharing, but elsewhere (trying to fix my children's ages that have mysteriously changed at some point between February and now) it is requiring that I have a credit card. Specifically, I am getting the error dialog:
Credit Card Verification Required
You currently have a debit card on file for the Apple ID **********@mac.com
To change ********’s Apple ID to a child account, you must verify that you are an adult by adding a credit card as your iTunes payment method.
What actually is the policy here?

To create a child account or change an existing account to a child account you must have a credit card on your account, not a debit card - you can change back to a debit card after entering the credit card's details
From Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids - Apple Support :
To comply with child online privacy protection laws, you will use the CVV or security code from a valid credit card as part of providing your parental consent. If the card on file is a debit card or another payment method, you’ll be asked to provide a credit card before you can continue. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method back to a debit card.
