cannot login macbook air with passoword or apple id

My Macbook Air has been dead for awhile (a month). I finally bought a charger last night, and started to login into my Macbook, and it's saying that my passowd is incorrect (when I'm positive it isn't). I tried to login with my apple ID, and it says that icloud cannot be connected, and to verify my internet connection. However, my macbook is showing that I'm connected to the internet (same one my phone is and ipad are connected to). I wanted to double check to see if the internet is really the issue, so I logged onto the Guest username, and was able to access safari.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Reset Password.

OS X 10.7 Lion,10.8 Mountain Lion,10.9 Yosemite and 10.10 Yosemite

Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.

When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.

Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.

Move the mouse pointer to the menubar at the very top of the screen, click "Utilities” and then select "Terminal"

from the dropdown.

Terminal window will appear.

Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.

Leave the Terminal window open.

Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.

Select the user account from the popup menu box under “Select user account”.

Enter a new password.

Re-enter the new password for the user.

Enter a hint.

Click the "Save" button.

Click  in the menubar and select Restart.

Log in.

If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.
