Mac G5 Parts or sever

My local Preowned electronics shop has a Mac G5 for under £100 would i make able to use it for spare parts (ram etc) in a 2006 mac pro or use it as a FCPX file server connected via Ethernet too a mac pro 2008

A G5 can't run FCPX if that is what is needed, not sure what FCPX file server wouild entail, do you mean just a file server?

2008 Mac Pros use PC6400 RAM, no G5 would have used that.
Hello thank you for your reply , I mean a file server store the Project file on the g5 connected over the net work and acess them via fcpx
Oh yes, it'll work as a File Server through File Sharing... but are all 4 HDD slots filled in your Mac Pro already?
They are not but i have one spare
Bay 1 - Yosemite SSD
Bay 2 - 750GB Data Drive (Documents Itunes Libery Etc)
Bay 3 - 2TB FCPX Project Drive
Bay 4 - NO HDD
You can put the G5's drive in the empty slot if you wish. 🙂
